On Saturday, Jen from Letters and Pearls and I spent the morning at Hyde Park Village to support local and small businesses on Small Business Saturday. I'd found out about the Shop Small Saturday Blogger Stroll at the Village from their Instagram page, and made plans with Jen to check it out and show our love for local businesses.
We met up at Piquant Hyde Park for a mimosa toast to kick off the day with Hyde Park Village and the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce. After mimosa sips and light brunch bites, we began our stroll around the Village; shops like Juxtapose Apparel & Studio and Blue Moon Trading Company offered special discounts for shoppers.
My favorite discovery in the Village was Blue Moon Trading Company - the owner, Katie, kindly welcomed us into her store with open arms, and the artisan pieces adorning every square foot of the shop emulated the modern, rustic appeal that I've grown so in love with.
Your support of small businesses in our community is so impactful to our local economy - four times the money is retained by the economy, compared to shopping at chain retail stores. Local businesses also contribute to 65% more jobs in our community, which in turn stimulates our local economy.
Small Business Saturday is a wonderful reminder to keep it local, as often as possible. I encourage you to join me in turning this into an everyday reminder!
