This time of year is an important one, as it allows us to reflect on we're thankful for most, and also allows us to focus on giving back to the community. Last week, a few of my local blogger girlfriends and I had the opportunity to visit the Give & Grub food truck, an initiative supported by Laser Spine Institute, Tampa Bay Lightning and Feeding America Tampa Bay.
The Give & Grub food truck was launched in October 2014 by Laser Spine Institute with a mission to provide meals to families in need in the Tampa Bay community. At its one-year mark this past October, Laser Spine Institute celebrated a milestone of 150,000 meals given back to the community through the Give & Grub food truck. Now, heading into 2016, the Give & Grub initiative has a lot planned on the horizon.
For every meal purchased at the Give & Grub food truck, another meal is donated to hungry children and families in the Tampa Bay area. In addition, social media awareness plays a huge role in this contribution - every time the hashtag #GiveandGrub is used on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, another meal is given back to the community.
During our visit, my ladies and I split the Cross-Check Sweet Potato Fries, a perfectly crisp treat for lovers of sweet and salty. The marshmallow and butterscotch drizzle is what what makes this delicious side - this is a MUST ORDER when you visit the food truck! I also ordered the Hedman's Goal Bowl, but instead of grilled chicken, I opted for Mahi-Mahi instead. This dish is full of flavor, and colorful - which can properly be translated into healthy for you. ;)
The Give & Grub food truck can be found parked at the Laser Spine Institute every Thursdays, as well as outside the Amalie Arena on Thursday and Saturday Tampa Bay Lightning home games during the regular season. You can find more information regarding the Give & Grub initiative here - be sure to also check it out on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!
