No new fashion doesn't necessarily mean no new style - this is what I've learned recently from thredUP, an online boutique that offers a chic spin on your typical consignment store. Thousands of like-new pieces are hand-selected and quality-rated by thredUP, and a bag is provided in your shipment for you to fill with clothes you no longer wear - thredUP covers the cost of the shipping, and gives you credit for every item it can sell to others.
I love this concept. By supporting thredUP, you're lightening your carbon footprint, as any unusable clothing is passed on to textile recycling partners who upcycle these pieces. Not only is this a cost-effective way to shop for clothing, but it's also eco-conscious. I was able to find nine pieces, including accessories, for under $75, and the items were either in excellent condition or still had tags on them!
I admit, I was a bit of a snob about buying clothes before this - I didn't like the idea of wearing clothing that had previously been worn before, and I couldn't give you logic reasoning for this thought either. Shopping with thredUP has shifted my viewpoint, and I will most definitely be going on another thredUP shopping spree very soon. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to sharing my other thredUP finds with you in upcoming posts!
