Wardrobe Revamp with Corrine
After my wonderful experience with Valerie during Get Your Style On at International Plaza, I encouraged my good friend Corrine to book her free personal shopping appointment with Valerie. When I first met Corrine, I remember her jokingly describing her personal style as "dressing like a 12-year-old boy," and I knew she was comfortable with and used to monochrome ensembles.
Corrine is such an amazing, selfless and giving individual, and with recent, positive changes in her life, we both thought this would be an amazing way to do something for herself for a change, by stepping out of her comfort zone and letting Valerie help her revamp her wardrobe.
The remainder of this post will be from Corrine herself, because there's no better way to describe her experience with Valerie than in her own words.
Moving 1,500 miles from Northern Vermont to Florida has been a bit of an adjustment. A few months ago I was coming up against my first Florida summer and I realized I couldn't remember the last time I cut my hair, put on mascara or had worn something other than one of my fiancé's t-shirts with a pair of jeans and sneakers. I had been pouring myself into my job and putting a lot of my personal life on the back burner.
I started by purging my closet, which left me about five items total. I had no idea where to go from there. Going shopping was overwhelming, like I forgot how to do it or something. I didn't know what to pick out, how to dress for Florida seasons, and when I finally did find an item that worked on the hanger, it didn't seem to work on me. I started feeling a lot less confident.
It took a lot of pushing from a few really close friends to step out of my comfort zone and revamp my wardrobe, Jenn especially. When she introduced me to and helped me set up a personal styling session with Valerie, that was really the kicker. Spending a few hours with Valerie and talking about how to showcase my personal style made me focus and reflect on myself. I pretty much cried tears of joy in the fitting room at J. Crew. I left the session feeling amazing and kept thinking, "Why did I wait so long to spend time and energy on me?"
