Local Bites: Del Frisco's Grille Tampa

Prior to this visit, I heard a lot about Del Frisco's Grille and how great the food is, even from friends over in Texas! Del Frisco's Grille in Tampa sent me a kind Twitter reminder about July being National Ice Cream Month, and introduced me to their Adult Milkshake. With Sunday being National Ice Cream Day, I couldn't have chosen a better day to have my first Del Frisco's Grille experience and try out the boozy milkshake.

We were immediately welcomed by our server, Matt, who was wonderful throughout the duration of our dinner, eager to help us make drink and food choices by recommending both popular dishes and sharing his personal favorites. Because this was our first time at Del Frisco's Grille, we decided to try a couple of items on the appetizer menu that were on the opposite ends of the spectrum. Since pH is a lover of all things pork, and I love me a perfectly prepared artichoke, we ordered the Pulled Pork Empanadas and the Fire Roasted Artichoke.

Both appetizer dishes were delicious - the empanadas were stuffed with pulled pork and were savory, in an apricot mustard that added a nice touch to the empanadas, not as overwhelming as you might think of mustard. The artichoke was my favorite, and by far the best I've had at a restaurant. Unlike what I've had before, this artichoke dish was cooked perfectly, not too raw and not too overdone, and wasn't as lemon-heavy, either.

I had a tough time choosing an entree, and was caught between the Prime Steak Salad and the Shaved Prime Steak Sandwich - Matt recommended the Prime Steak Salad, his personal favorite because of the deviled eggs and the lemon-horseradish vinaigrette dressing. pH ended up ordering the Shaved Prime Steak Sandwich, so it worked out perfectly.

Matt's recommendation was on-point; the salad was amazing! It had all of my salad favorites: bacon, tomatoes, avocado, parmesan cheese and eggs. I requested the steak to be cooked medium rare, and it came out perfectly - a warm red center in each slice.

I couldn't get over the mini ketchup bottle that came with pH's entree, and I feel like I'm not the only one who thinks it's adorable. I stole a bite of his sandwich, of course - it was nice and hot, and tasted great dipped in the au jus. I loved the sea salt and parmesan frites that came with his entree - each fry was crispy, just how I like my fries.

After we finished our entrees, we of course had to order what we came for originally - the Adult Milkshake.

It was the perfect end to a delicious dinner - a blend of vanilla ice cream, creme de cacao, chocolate liqueur and walnut liqueur, this boozy milkshake was the perfect dessert portion, and didn't leave me feeling stuffed by the time we left.

I had an amazing first time at Del Frisco's Grille in Tampa, and will definitely be back, even if it's just for an Adult Milkshake and those tasty Sea Salt and Parmesan Frites! It's not too late to celebrate National Ice Cream Month - from now until July 26th, you can add an Adult Milkshake to your meal for just $7.
