The Little Black Dress Initiative
When paired with the right accessories, I love rocking a little black dress - but when it's also paired with supporting a great cause, I'm even more all about it. From September 25-29, the Junior League of St. Petersburg is launching its Little Black Dress Initiative to raise awareness of and funds for the poverty and education challenges faced by children in the community.
To bring these issues to light, participants of the Little Black Dress Initiative will wear one LBD for five straight days, along with a button that reads, "Ask me about my dress!" In Pinellas County, nearly one in four children live below the poverty level. In some cases, these children are forced to wear the same unwashed or ill-fitting clothing everyday to school. This year, you can join the Junior League of St. Pete in this initiative and create your own fundraising page to support the cause.
Can't wear the same dress five days in a row, but want to make an impact? You can donate to the Junior League of St. Pete and help the organization address the heart of the League’s community outreach focus: school success - literacy and health/nutrition - all of which is affected by childhood poverty.
