Local Bites: New Cocktail + Sandwich at Bonefish Grill

One of my favorite things about dining at Bonefish Grill is that, more often than not, each experience is a new one for me, thanks to its delicious seasonal menu offerings. During a recent visit with my mama, we got the chance to check out two new menu items that will likely be sticking around for the fall - the Coral Reef Punch and the Bangin' BFG Sandwich.

Coral Reef Punch: Bacardi Maestro Rum, Malibu Coconut Rum, passion fruit, house-made vanilla bean simple syrup, fresh-squeezed orange & pineapple juice.

Bangin' BFG Sandwich: Fresh fish fillet, dressed with Bang Bang sauce, house-made coleslaw & a tomato slice.

The Coral Reef Punch pairs tropical and citrus flavors for a refreshing sip and was concocted to support The Nature Conservancy and raise awareness for the International Year of the Reef, a global initiative to educate about the importance of coral reefs. While we're not personally fans of rum, I do encourage you to try this cocktail if you're a rum-drinker - the tropical and citrus flavors balance each other in harmony for a drink that's both slightly sweet and tart.

We also learned a little something during our visit and realized that the 'BFG' in the Bangin' BFG Sandwich does not stand for Bonefish Grill - rather, it stands for the styles in which your fish fillet can be prepared: blackened, fried or grilled. Mind blown. We opted for fried, and really enjoyed sharing this sandwich - the fish paired with Bang Bang sauce offered a mouthful of flavor, while the house-made cole slaw mellowed out each bite.

Bang Bang Shrimp: Crispy shrimp, tossed in a creamy, spicy Bang Bang sauce.

Fresh Watermelon Martini: Hand-muddled watermelon, house-infused English cucumber vodka & fresh sour.

Can you really say that you went to Bonefish Grill if you didn't order the Bang Bang Shrimp? I can never go without ordering this appetizer! And if you've never tried for yourself, this is a must-order - I love pairing each shrimp bite with a couple of scallion slices and lettuce. The Fresh Watermelon Martini is my favorite seasonal cocktail of Bonefish Grill's. It is incredibly refreshing, and I love finishing off the drink by enjoying a few bites of the frozen watermelon popsicle.

Another menu item that I rarely go without ordering is scallops - Bonefish Grill always does scallops marvelously, and on this visit, we tried a seasonal dish that was packed with flavor - the Fresh Dayboat Scallops Elote.

Fresh Dayboat Scallops Elote: Fresh Dayboat scallops served on a bed of Mexican-style street corn, paired with Chimichurri & smoky Chipotle aioli.

This visit was a memorable one, and I loved getting the chance to catch up with my mama over tasty eats at Bonefish Grill - we definitely recommend trying the Bangin' Fried Sandwich and the Fresh Dayboat Scallops Elote! Oh, so good.
