Relax & Unwind at Innisbrook Resort's Salamander Spa

We’ve all got busy lives and commitments that take precedence in our every days, but sometimes, giving yourself a few hours (or heck, even a full day) of rest and relaxation is a MUST. A change of scenery is necessary, too - I’ll admit, I’ve got my go-to spot for a quick after-work massage, but routine can often be an enemy, so I’m a big believer in indulging in little “getaways” and uncovering all the best places in town for that perfect dose of R&R.

My older sisters and I got the wonderful chance to celebrate National Sisters’ Day over sister time and massages in the serene setting of Salamander Spa at Innisbrook Golf Resort in Palm Harbor, just a 30-45 minute drive from Tampa. It was a much-needed escape for all of us, and I’m really excited to share our experience with you, because we had such a lovely time. Keep on scrolling for a brief recap video, followed by all the details from our day at the spa!

Upon checking in at the spa’s front desk, we each filled out a form denoting our areas of need for our massages and selected a preferred scent that we wanted to apply to our services. Christy and Pauline both chose the ‘Fresh’ scent, while I opted for ‘Oolong.’

We were then taken back to the ladies’ relaxation lounge and shown our lockers and the amenities available for our use. Each locker had a cozy Salamander Spa robe for us to wear, and more importantly, slip-on sandals with arch support. Men and women have their own exclusive steam room and jacuzzi, and the lounge area faces windows overlooking the lush green landscape of Innisbrook Resort.

After some girl talk over a cup of white tea, we were taken back to the massage rooms for our services. We all got the Salamander Spa Signature Ritual Massage, which started with an incredibly soothing scalp massage, followed by a relaxing full-body massage and finished off with an exfoliating foot scrub and hot towel treatment. Hands down, it was one of the best all-encompassing massages I’ve ever received - I felt so relaxed and at ease after my massage, and my massage therapist, Ashley, did an amazing job of relieving the lower back pain I typically experience due to scoliosis.

After settling back into our clothes, we made our way to Packard’s Steakhouse, one of Innisbrook Resort’s restaurants that overlooks the signature Copperhead Golf Course, to wrap up our Sisters’ Day celebrations with lunch.

Tomato Bisque: Served with a grilled cheese slice

Hearts of Palm Salad: Hearts of palm, kalamata olives, feta cheese, tomatoes, bibb lettuce & herb white balsamic dressing

Farmer’s Steak Salad: Filet medallions, mixed greens, tomatoes, carrots, onions, cucumber & balsamic vinaigrette dressing

Pepper Steak Sandwich: Filet mignon tips, sherry braised onions, au poivre sauce & gruyere cheese on a toasted baguette, served with light coleslaw

Lunch was absolutely scrumptious - everything was incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared, and these dishes were the perfect portions to wrap up our day at the spa. My personal favorites were the Tomato Bisque and Farmer’s Steak Salad - so full of flavor and delicious! And we couldn’t leave without trying a few bites of some dessert favorites recommended by the chef.

Pavlova: Crunchy meringue, lemon curd, fresh berries, whipped cream

Tiramisu: Rum and espresso soaked ladyfingers, mascarpone cream cheese, cocoa powder

Triple Chocolate Cake: Layer cake, chocolate ganache, whipped cream, strawberry

A day at Innisbrook Resort was exactly what we needed to take a break from our crazy everyday - I highly recommend Salamander Spa as the spot for your next day of rest and relaxation!
