Big Ray's Fish Camp Opens at The Sail Plaza

With this next week being graced with nothing but beautiful weather, it’s the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors, and explore the newly-renovated Sail Plaza near the Tampa Convention Center. It’s a beautiful 360-degree bar right by the water, now offering delicious eats from a South Tampa-favorite, Big Ray’s Fish Camp. I had the chance to preview the menu and venue before its official grand opening, and despite a short torrential downpour that rained on our party, I truly enjoyed myself! Get ready for lots of pictures:

A blend of strawberry daiquiri and pina colada - non-alcoholic version also available!

Smoked Fish Dip served with crackers

Grouper Nuggets served with Thai sweet chile

Lobster Corn Dog: 6” tail split and dipped in corn dog batter; served with garlic parmesan fries

Giant Ice Cream Sandwich: Fresh churned vanilla ice cream, chocolate chip cookies

Giant Ice Cream Sandwich: Fresh churned vanilla ice cream, chocolate chip cookies

Everything. Was. Delicious. You really can’t go without trying the Lobster Corn Dog - it’s my favorite thing to order at Big Ray’s Fish Camp, filled with chunks of juicy lobster tail. I personally ask for cocktail sauce on the side - it’s the perfect pairing!

After we got a chance to eat to our heart’s content, we were treated to a gorgeous tour of the Hillsborough Bay and Hillsborough River via boat ride from the Tampa Bay Fun Boat. With old school hip hop and 90’s favorites cranked up, we got to experience beautiful views of our favorite city.

The Sail Plaza is located at 333 South Franklin Street in Tampa. It is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Food service from Big Ray’s Fish Camp ends at 11 p.m. every day.
