Southern Comfort at Seminole Hard Rock Tampa's The Rez Grill

I’m pretty positive I’m the odd one out in saying this, but I love visiting the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa to eat. Yes, really. We rarely gamble when we’re at the Hard Rock Tampa, and prefer to take in the treasure trove of restaurants and opportunities for good eating they have, instead.

The Rez Grill is one of my favorite restaurants at the Hard Rock Tampa, featuring a sophisticated, but comfortable atmosphere and a menu filled with delicious Southern-inspired comfort dishes. We stopped in recently to check out some new additions to the menu, and they didn’t disappoint - in fact, they surprisingly delighted!

I can always appreciate when restaurants offer non-alcoholic, mocktail options on their menu. I prefer not to drink, and don’t particularly enjoy how lethargic alcohol makes me feel, but that also doesn’t mean I want to just drink water or soda. Let’s not forget, I’ve still got a palate for flavor! The Rezzie or Not was the perfect non-alcoholic sipper throughout our meal, with its refreshing hint of tropical flavor.

Non-Alcoholic Rezzie or Not: Guava, pear, house-made sour mix, grenadine, soda

As we decided on selections from the new menu items, we also picked a couple of OG starters that we’re fond of, including the Wild Mushroom Soup and Composed Oysters - we order these two every time we visit The Rez Grill for dinner, and they never disappoint!

Wild Mushroom Soup: crème fraîche, croutons, chive oil

Composed Oysters: Miso-sesame, chopped Granny Smith apples

In addition, we opted to order the Grilled Quail, one of the new items on the menu at The Rez Grill. I was a bit hesitant, as I don’t usually go out of my way to order poultry when I eat out, but the collard greens and bacon accompaniments made the dish sound very intriguing. I’m really glad we ended up ordering it, because it was absolutely delicious! It was truly a Southern comfort way to kick off our meal, and the collard greens, bacon and caper brown butter delivered so much flavor.

For our main entrees, we decided to try the Red Snapper, a favorite among the staff at The Rez Grill, and the Grilled Meatloaf. Both were well-prepared and full of flavor - I’d recommend the Red Snapper for lighter fare and the Grilled Meatloaf if you’re craving something more hearty. I personally really enjoyed the Grilled Meatloaf the best - it had a great, flavorful crust and paired wonderfully with the crispy fried onions. The mushroom gravy was just the right amount savory and the Yukon mashed potatoes delightfully smooth.

This meal was definitely one of the most well-rounded meals we’ve had from start to finish, and left us feeling satisfied and happily full. The Grilled Quail and Grilled Meatloaf are absolutely worth checking out the next time you’re at the Hard Rock Tampa!
