Late Night Izakaya at Tori Bar in Tampa

I’m so happy to write that we now have a late-night izakaya with no frills sushi and Japanese small plates in Tampa! The owners of the much-loved Izakaya Tori in South Tampa have opened Tori Bar in Hyde Park, located along the same strip as Oxford Exchange and Mise en Place.

I was invited to check out the space and experience the menu during Tori Bar’s Friends & Family event. Favorite dishes from Izakaya Tori are featured on the menu, like Mentaiko Fries, Shiso Rangoon and Chilean Sea Bass Skewers, but they also have plates unique to their new concept, which we absolutely loved. Tori Bar has a full liquor license, so in addition to beer and sake, they also offer Japanese spirits and thoughtful cocktails. And if you’re like me and don’t drink, they do make mocktails although they’re not listed on the menu — simply let your server know your preferred flavor profiles!

Hokkaido Scallop Truffle Carpaccio: Scallops, truffle paste, ikura, soy dashi

Steak Tataki: Seared New York strip, garlic soy, wasabi aioli

Spicy Salmon Hand Roll and Yellowtail & Jalapeno Hand Roll

Uni (Sea Urchin) Hand Roll

Duck Breast Skewer

Chicken Hearts Skewer

Wagyu Beef Skewer
